Snow falls quietly on the ground

The sky is dark

All looks forlorn

The ice hangs on the trees

Old man winter is at hand

I snuggle warm and dry

In my bed

At least for now

Tomorrow the bills will come

If my money is not at hand

No heat

No bed

Out onto the street

I never thought I would see this day

I have worked hard

I have struggled

But my job is now gone

How many American’s set at home tonight

Worried about the bills ahead

It is time for thought

It is time for change

The rich are getting richer

But we, the poor

We still remain

The strength of the county

The bones on which the economy is built

And now we are cracking

How long can this remain

How long can we struggle

With no hope ahead

Hear our cry

Oh county of mine!
